Why wider strips aren't always better—mechanical fit issues in OEM customization
In OEM discussions, strip width is often simplified into "wider is clearer" or "narrower saves cost," but in actual production, a width change pulls on the fit of the entire housing mold set. Increasing strip width enlarges the exposed reading-window area, which does help users with poor eyesight or in low-light home settings; however, if the internal retaining slots in the housing are not adjusted accordingly, the strip may shift during transport vibration, causing the reading zone to offset.

MeiBao offers multiple strip width options in OEM projects—3.0mm, 3.5mm, 5.5mm, and 6.0mm—but recommends that brands first confirm the target market's preference for reading-window size and the housing's drop-test requirements before finalizing width.

For first-time clients, a small pilot run using existing mature molds can verify packaging-line compatibility and end-user feedback before committing to a new mold.
